Hi again-
I really enjoy your blog, both as a former Staten Islander and as a lifelong walker. Thought you might want to see(or perhaps already have seen) an article in the Advance by Mike Azzara on the origins of the Greenbelt, from 12/01/07. It was occassioned by my father's death, but celebrates well the work of some fine people.

Keep walkin', wherever your feet happen to be.

Good News!

It is very frustrating that many times what prevents walkers from walking is not distance but pathways dedicated solely to automobiles.

Exercise? Zero carbon footprint? Fresh air? Stopping to smell the roses? -feh! Walking paths to halt invasive plants is the way to go!
